Camp Evergreen

CIT program

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Camp Evergreen Counselor-in-Training (CIT)! By completing this application, you’re taking an exciting step toward developing essential skills and knowledge for a rewarding experience at camp.

About the CIT Program:

Our CIT program is designed for individuals who have just completed their freshman year of high school and are at least 15 years old. While many of our CITs are former campers who have participated in the Jr. Leadership program, prior experience is not a requirement.

The primary goal of the CIT program is to equip you with the training and experience needed to excel as a Camp Counselor. As a CIT, you’ll work closely with children and learn the inner workings of camp operations—including maintenance, attendance tracking, event planning, and activity facilitation. The skills you gain here will benefit you in various aspects of life, including future careers, home, and school.

Mentorship and Support:

You will work under the guidance of seasoned counselors, learning from their experiences. Regular check-ins and constructive feedback from our CIT coordinator ensure that you receive the support you need to thrive at camp. Many CITs choose to return to Camp Evergreen not just for a summer job, but because they are genuinely invested in our mission and community.

Position Details:

Please note that CIT positions are limited and will be filled based on criteria such as experience working with children, enthusiasm, positive attitude, growth potential, maturity, and readiness to take on camp responsibilities. CITs are required to commit to a minimum of 4 consecutive weeks during camp hours (9 AM to 4 PM) and attend a pre-camp orientation. While not mandatory, we encourage CITs to participate in our Spring Vacation Camp as part of their training.

After submitting your application, we will follow up with you for a phone call or an in-person interview.

We look forward to reading your application and learning more about you!
