Camp Evergreen

Structure

The daily structure of Camp Evergreen is designed to facilitate new experiences as well as allowing the time for campers to pursue their personal interests. Our goal with this structure is to help children gain independence, develop new skills, and of course, to have a fun while doing it.

Upon enrollment campers are assigned to one of three Units. Each Unit is composed of several “Tents”. Each Tent is separated by most recently completed grade level and sex. The younger aged groups are kept at a maximum of about 10 campers while older groups reach a maximum of 15 campers. Our staff to Camper ratio is 1:5.

Camp Evergreen Unit Group Structure:
Unit 1: Ages 4 ½ through Kindergarten
Unit 2: First grade through Third grade

Unit 3: Fourth grade through age 14

7th and 8th Graders are automatically enrolled in our Leadership Program.

Each Tent is led and supervised by a counselor and assisted by a Junior Counselor or a Counselor in Training (CIT). The staff members accompany their groups to all the supervised activities, specialist areas and organized events.

Normal camp hours are from 9 am to 3:55 pm. Each Tent has a set morning schedule that includes various specialist activities.. After lunch are two periods of "Free Choice". During Free Choice, campers may choose from a wide range of activities offered by counselors and specialists. Activities during Free Choice periods change on a daily basis so that there is always something new and exciting for your child to experience. Any supplies needed for activities are provided by camp.

Campers swim daily. We provide red cross swim lessons.

Camp Evergreen also provides a morning snack for our Unit 1 campers.  Lunch must be brought from home and can be kept in the cabin. Please pack the lunch in an insulated bag. We recommend that all campers bring a refillable water bottle labeled with their name.  The canteen is open between periods to serve cool drinks. All campers get popsicles in the afternoon.

This Camp complies with the regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and is licensed by the Andover Board of Health
